Hey,

I have recently downloaded the Quake Wars demo, my first impressions were it was a great game!

But the more i played, the more i started to see that there was absolutely no teamwork, because i created a fireteam ( BF2 squads equivalent) and invited everyone on my team to join me, and only got 2 people out of 9.

i think this is due to the fact that there is NO VOIP, which means you cant use a microphone to communicate. and trying to organise something over fireteam chat takes too long and your either dead by the time you wrote it. Or your fireteam members have gotten bored and run off.

Another thing is, they have NO use, because nothing changes from when your not in one to when you are. it just puts your name in a list. you cant spawn on the leader like in BF2 which was the MAIN advantage besides VOIP. So obviously. They fail.

Then there is NO ragdoll, every single game has ragdoll now, a game is just not complete without it. It looks super lame when you have an entire battlefield of bodies that died in the exact same way. This might have been due to some of the features requiring a body that stays still. Like the strogg human spawn point thing. This could have been solved by making the ragdolls go to sleep ( makes it freeze so it cant move ) when the technician stabs the body. And its fixed.

Now, the ragdoll i can live withought thats just minor. But leaving out something as crucial as voip, thats just suicide. Now some might say " use Ventrillo or Teamspeak " but you can't get your whole team onto a teamspeak server because, a. some people might not have it and b. nobody reads the chat in ET:QW anyways because it only stays on screen for less than 3 seconds.

Oh and one more thing. the text on the hud is so huge it blocks up most of your screen, even on 1280x1024. does anyone know how to make it smaller? because right now ive turned the opacity down to 0% for my entire hud bcause it's just so damn BIG.

I also downloaded the game. It's alright. Graphics wise, it's super hawt but the game play is iffy from the teamwork stand.
Although, I haven't played on internet with other people, I shouldn't be saying anything about it.
The bots are dumb, great for practicing though.

Playing ET:QW online is much better than versing bots in Singleplayer. But it still doesn't change how much teamwork is involved.

Yeah i played BETA1 when it came out and reported back to ID with my criticisms..
Altho the game was extremly stable and there werent really any graphical glitches that i find/see, i still believe that the textures look quite grainy either it be due to the Art Department or the engines rendering technique (first game to use MegaTexture technology) thus my first impression of the game wasnt what i thought it would be like altho the graphics have slightly improved since BETA1 to be expected.
I like how the objectives in the maps sort of force you to use every class to achieve a certain goal unlike the likes of BF, gameplay is pretty average too and the maps dont seem very big at all from what i've played..and thats my two cents lol
